Root Dwellers is a live music showcase and interview series held monthly at The Anza Club, a venue in the heart of Mount Pleasant. The showcase provides an inclusive, community driven platform for both emerging and established artists.
Root Dwellers primarily hosts artists from the Greater Vancouver region, including those from underrepresented groups, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. The showcase has a long standing reputation for being a safe and supportive space in the music scene. Encouraging an engaged listening room environment, fair compensation for artists and a community driven networking space. After receiving funding support from Creative BC's Live Music:Presentation Program in March 2022, Root Dwellers hosted one show per month as part of their reopening plan following the COVID-19 Pandemic. Root Dwellers will continue to host monthly showcases in 2023, with the goal of expanding and improving the events. Root Dwellers acknowledges that it is hosted on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
