Bryan Michael

Bryan Michael creates art that chronicles his own experiences through melancholic songs about winning some, losing more, and getting punched in the face. His bittersweet combination of radically vulnerable lyrics and soaring vocals impel you to feel every single thing that he feels.

Distractions is a vessel for striking, existential unburdening in which Michael funnels first-person accounts of grief, depression, yearning, rejection, and self-worth into a worldview that seems both chaotic and consoling. In his unbridled but steady voice, a voice trained on pop-punk in his previous project Sharks! On Fire! and later subdued to spare, acoustic rock, Michael searches for meaning in a world so full of pain it can drive a person mad. The old cliche about musicians having their whole lives to make their debut ring true here, the earliest composition and single, Demons, dates back to Michael’s early twenties; A song he crafted as a means of catharsis during times of confusion and fragility. Having an abundance of western-Canadian shows under his belt, it won’t be long before this songwriter’s wry observation and emotional honesty has everybody talking.
